Library Board of Trustees
Assistant Librarian, Library Clerk, other support staff,
The Library Director advises the board, implements policy
set by the board, supervises all library staff and volunteers, and acquires
library materials, equipment and supplies. The Library Director performs
a variety of administrative and supervisory tasks as well as complex clerical
work in planning, organizing and implementing the programs and services of the
Cascade Public Library.
Duties and Responsibilities
Manages and supervises library
operations to achieve goals within available resources, plans and organizes
workloads and staff assignment, trains staff and volunteers, motivates and
evaluates staff annually, reviews progress directs changes as needed, and
adheres to the Professional code of Conduct.
Establishes annual goals in
conjunction with the Board of Trustees.
Communicates official plans, policies
and procedures to staff and the general public.
Develop and manage the annual budget
in conjunction with the Trustees, implement cost control activities, and
monitor revenue and expenditures.
Selects and oversees general
collection of library materials.
Provides professional advice on
library issues, and actively collaborates with appropriate civic and
educational organizations to develop quality programs consistent with annual
Assures that library facilities and
equipment are properly maintained.
Promotes community interest in library
Attends regular library board
meetings, and gives monthly reports.
Other duties as needed.
Education and Experience
High school graduate or equivalent,
Library Science certificate or
Experience in office management,
operations or public service
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Experience
Experience in planning, organizing and
implementing a comprehensive library system
Ability to communicate
effectively, to establish and maintain
effective working relationships with patrons, employees, and library board
Technologically savvy, including
library website management
Experience with accounting software
Ability to develop and implement
programs to serve all demographics
